TAG Austin 2019 Recap

2020-07-14T16:55:52-05:00November 12th, 2019|Tags: , , , , , , |

Our team enjoyed TAG in Austin and we’ve got some highlights to share with you! Technology Assurance Group (TAG) hosted their big event on November 7 - 8 in Austin, TX focused on Planning Your Success in 2020. TAG is an organization of over 100 leading MSPs and other technology companies. Members benefit from best business and management practices, advanced sales training programs and processes, in-depth financial analysis and industry benchmarking, professionally led peer group interaction, marketing and lead generation programs, and strategic partnerships with technology manufacturers. Here’s our recap of the event: Notes from the Conference Floor We have exhibited at TAG events before and once again we found the event to be worth our time and effort. This was the first time TAG did all the regions in one location, normally they host three smaller meetings. We liked this approach better and hope to see them do more events in this format. There were around 70 people in attendance, which is about what we expected for the meeting. While this number is lower than an average-sized conference that we attend, the ‘quality’ of attendee was through the roof! Just about every attendee was a decision maker which made for great conversations. The size of the show and venue made it easy to move around the floor, while still being compact enough to be perfect for networking. The conference had a lot of good speakers and information about security and the importance of making sure you have the appropriate insurance coverage. MSPs are [...]

Channel Partners Evolution 2019 Recap

2019-10-09T18:52:52-05:00September 25th, 2019|Tags: , , |

Our team is back from Channel Partners Evolution 2019 and we’ve got some highlights to share with you! Channel Partners Evolution (CPEvolution) was held September 9 to September 12 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. The channel tech conference was attended by 3000 of the industry’s leading solution providers, vendors, distributors, IT professionals and media, with over 150 exhibitors. Here’s our recap: Notes from the Conference Floor Though it didn’t always feel like it with the trade show floor being open for 11 hour days, the Imagit booth was busy. We met a lot of new people in the new channel and found several prospective new partnerships. We walked away with over 100 new contacts from scans at the booth, and business cards acquired throughout the show. One common theme was channel convergence. It’s affecting different companies in different ways, but the one thing that resonates across the board is a need to add more capabilities to take on new types of projects and add more value to customers.  Imagit is well positioned to help with this need thanks to our team of 400 network and systems engineers + smarthands who can almost any project need for partners across the US and Canada. The demand for more ‘as a service’ offerings also remains prevalent, and we are feeling very excited to launch our new LAN as a Service (LANaaS) offering after some great conversations with channel partners. If you didn’t get a chance to learn about that, we are offering [...]

ChannelCon 2019 Recap

Our team enjoyed ChannelCon in Las Vegas and we’ve got some highlights to share with you! The 2019 CompTIA ChannelCon took place in Las Vegas, NV at The Bellagio on Aug 5 – 7, 2019. Here’s our recap of the event: Notes from the Conference Floor The 3 day event was very well attended and we were pleased to network with many of our current partners as well as new leads. The Executive Council run breakout sessions were also well attended and participants were very active, coming up with many great ideas during the roundtables, flipchart sessions, and think-tank exercises. The legendary Shaquille O’Neal was the keynote speaker, and the audience was very engaged with his session. Shaq discussed his career, current business interests, and love for tech. Read more about the keynote on CompTIA’s website.  Many people overlook this “larger-than-life” character as just that…a character due to his jovial personality and relentless wit and comic relief during his broadcasts as a color-commentator in live sporting events. Yet, the former backboard breaker is quite the business mogul in the tech space and has spoken at other tech conferences in addition to ChannelCon! Overall we were extremely happy with this event and it was great to meet so many people who were really interested in speaking with us.  The CompTIA community continues to be one of the most engaged audiences we encounter, which is why we have boothed for the last 3 years. Our partnership with MSPs is a logical marriage where 2 entities that [...]

Our team enjoyed TAG in Orlando and we’ve got some highlights to share with you! The 19th annual TAG Convention was hosted by Technology Assurance Group (TAG) in Orlando, Florida at the Rosen Plaza on April 7-10, 2019. Here’s our recap of the event: Joining TAG TAG members came from all across the United States to meet in Orlando for the annual convention. Members benefit from best business and management practices, advanced sales training programs and processes, in-depth financial analysis and industry benchmarking, professionally led peer group interaction, marketing and lead generation programs, and strategic partnerships with technology manufacturers. TAG members provide assistance to each other and refer clients to other members when they can not service them, allowing members to grow together through combined efforts. TAG gets hundreds of applications each year from all kinds of technology companies hoping to join the organization, and this year Imagit was one of the new companies introduced into the network. As part of the approval process, we provided references, quoted potential projects, and joined several calls with TAG executives. Imagit's Tyler O’Brien ran point for the process and within two months of application we had been approved and been asked to exhibit at the upcoming convention. Notes from the Conference Floor We have been extremely pleased with our reception by TAG and at the event! While at the conference we were able to meet many TAG members who have been a part of the [...]

Growing Your MSP Business in the 2020’s

2021-01-27T00:14:19-06:00March 15th, 2019|Tags: , , , , , |

In a highly competitive market and with growing customer demands MSPs must focus on core strengths. MSPs benefit by handing network system configuration and maintenance over to a specialist. Introduction: The Shoemaker’s Children MSPs convince their customers of the benefits of offloading maintenance tasks to third party specialists. Ironically, many ignore the potential benefits that they themselves can gain by making such a change. Terms, like digital disruption and gig economy, illustrate that nowadays, technology evolves at a brisk pace. Consequently, the burden of taking care of all of their customers’ technical needs strains many MSPs’ resources and decreases their margins. What can be done? MSPs must heed their own advice. They need to determine where they add value and focus their energies there. For many, network maintenance has become an onerous burden. Hiring a specialist to oversee customer network deployments and maintenance enables MSPs to expand their reach, improve their service, and reduce their costs. The Network Maintenance Challenge Monitoring customers’ IT systems is a complex undertaking, one that becomes more complicated every day. New solutions, such as the Internet of Things; artificial intelligence and machine learn; and Augmented Reality/Virtual reality, emerge. The traditional office is expanding. The Internet frees employees from desktop systems in central office cubicles. Today, they use a variety of devices, desktops, smartphones, and tablets to access information and work from home, branch locations, customers’ offices, and the local coffee shop. Configuring and managing all of these devices, applications, and connections has become time consuming. MSPs need to maximize [...]

CompTIA State of the Channel Study Highlights Need for Partnerships

2019-05-16T19:00:28-05:00December 14th, 2018|Tags: , , , , , |

CompTIA’s yearly State of the Channel report covers trends in the technology ecosystem by surveying hundreds of U.S. IT businesses. We looked at their 2018 report as it pertains to channel partnership trends and found some key information that we’d like to share with you. Optimism for the Future CompTIA reports that businesses in the channel are very optimistic for the future. The report states, “Nearly across the board, respondents in 2018 ranked factors that bolster good feelings about the channel’s future significantly higher than they did two years ago. The broader use of technology among customers, for example, inspired optimism for the future in 37% of 2016’s respondents; in 2018 that figure jumped to 52%.” However, businesses face concerns when it comes to the availability of skilled IT workers, a gap that CompTIA says the channel hopes to “tackle with the help of third-party experts.” Creating Agility Within the Channel As the IT channel grows and gains momentum businesses must be agile to maintain growth. More and more clients are looking for a technology provider that has expertise in a broad array of skills and can provide comprehensive support. Despite the fact that it is nearly impossible for one provider to effectively deliver on all solutions and services, the client wants “one throat to choke” and will look for a provider who can fully manage their technology. Organizations miss out on valuable business when they are unable to meet specific needs for their clients and may even face losing the client completely to [...]

Tech Conference Recap – ASCII Anaheim

2019-07-09T18:58:51-05:00March 1st, 2018|Tags: , , , |

Our team is back from ASCII's first show of the year in Anaheim and we’ve got some highlights to share with you! The ASCII IT Success Summits are a series of conferences held around the U.S. geared towards helping Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to grow their businesses, offer additional services, help their customers transition to the cloud, and increase monthly recurring revenue opportunities. All nine summits offer a similar agenda to ensure that attendees receive the same valued information no matter which event they attend. Here’s our recap: Notes from the Conference Floor ASCII kicked off on Wednesday with a networking breakfast with about 200 member and non-members in attendance. After breakfast attendees headed to the first presentation of the day, “Lessons From the Field: Hurricane Harvey – What MSPs May Overlook in their Business Continuity Planning". This compelling presentation from Lamar Curtis, President of IAG Business Technology, gave attendees a snapshot of the loss of revenue suffered by companies large and small that were not prepared for disaster. Having been on the ground for Hurricane Harvey, Curtis saw firsthand the devastation and the strain this put on businesses. He detailed out the processes that need to be implemented including notification of employees and "are you safe" communications, as well as how to create opportunities to offer resources to your community and your clients. After a day full of educational presentations for MSP’s, channel partners, and VAR’s the night concluded with a mixer for ASCII Members, non-Members, and event sponsors. Day two opened with [...]

Tech Conference Recap – ASCII Cup 2017

2019-07-16T21:35:03-05:00November 7th, 2017|Tags: , , |

Our team is back from ASCII Cup 2017 and we’ve got some highlights to share with you! The ASCII Cup 2017, ASCII's annual vendor awards party, was held October 26th at Westfield's Marriott Washington Dulles in Washington, D.C.. The ASCII Group is the oldest and largest group of independent information technology solution providers, integrators, managed service providers (MSPs), and value added resellers (VARs). The annual ASCII Cup was attended by an estimated 150 of the industry’s leading solution providers, vendors, distributors, IT professionals, and media. Here’s our recap: Notes from the Conference Floor ASCII hosts nine shows per year in a unique format focused on insight and market discussions provided by leading channel executives in the IT space. The ASCII Cup is the year end show where awards are presented to technology companies that have showcased channel goodwill and a commitment to helping ASCII members grow their IT businesses. This year's ASCII Cup Vendor of the Year is Datto, who also announced a merger with Autotask during the Cup. Congrats! Our favorite speaker of the day was the keynote, Frank Abagnale. This year he has spoken at each of the nine ASCII events and discussed various aspects of cyber crime. His expertise and knowledge began with his famous personal story, immortalized in his book Catch Me If You Can and the subsequent film and Broadway play of the same name. In years since then, he has become one of the foremost authorities in security. Abagnale has been advised and consulted with hundreds of businesses and [...]
