MicroAge is a well-known name and a respected industry pioneer with a heritage of industry innovation spanning five decades. MicroAge serves clients “from the data center to the desktop” with technology from industry-leading suppliers, helping clients select IT solutions that best meet their unique requirements. MicroAge’s commitment to innovation and excellence made them a perfect fit for a partnership with ImagIT.
Forming a Partnership
The ImagIT/MicroAge partnership began with a simple LinkedIn message from one rep to another. After a good conversation, the teams met up in Arizona during ImagIT’s visit to attend NextCon. The meeting quickly solidified the business relationship and soon after we were able to work together to assist a large client, Total Airport Services (TAS). ImagIT’s skilled cabling team created a robust passive network infrastructure at multiple locations for this client, helping them to establish their U.S. operations. Check out the case study here.
After this successful project, ImagIT was introduced to Larry Fulop who came onboard as VP at MicroAge. Because all MicroAge Services began flowing through Fulop, he was able to streamline our partnership into a process that easily expanded to the whole MicroAge team. With 55 MicroAge reps in Phoenix and 75+ total across the country (several in ImagIT’s hometown of Chicago), it was important for our ImagIT team to get facetime with the reps.
We achieved this through Lunch and Learns, as well as informal meetings. Our first Lunch and Learn in Phoenix had a great attendance rate and engaged audience, one of the best partner meetings MicroAge has had! We have also hosted a Lunch and Learn for their Chicago reps, an informal meeting following the event, and a boat outing including members of their team. Through these meetings we have developed a strong rapport with the team and really helped them understand how they can increase opportunities by offering professional services.
The Partner Value Add
Prior to joining forces with ImagIT, MicroAge was purely focused on equipment sales. Working with ImagIT allows MicroAge to make their sales a complete turnkey solution where they can sell the hardware/software to clients and have a new arm to see the installation process through to completion. By adding professional services to their catalogue, MicroAge can differentiate themselves from competitors and add a new revenue stream. Due to our budding partnership and the competitive landscape that MicroAge works in, they have shifted a lot of their sales approach to more closely align with a services model. MicroAge is now able to fully support clients across the US with ImagIT and the partnership is expanding globally as well.
Working with MicroAge has increased ImagIT’s expansion in areas where we did not work prevalently before. Due to increased opportunities – we have assisted MicroAge with quoting almost 40 opportunities in less than one year of partnership – we are expanding our reach and capabilities to keep up with the growing demand. We help provide support for a catalogue of 60 MicroAge services and are continually scaling as we grow together.
